Literati Cell: The Literati Cell aims to develop the creativity of the students by providing the right kind of environment to write, analyze and think critically. It offers opportunities to appreciate different types of literature and increase the literary skills of the students by letting their creativity take flight into the world of imagination and fantasy. The cell provides the students with the opportunity to develop leadership and managerial skills along with important traits like teamwork, time management, priority-management, etc. This session, due to the corona pandemic, was conducted mostly online, despite which the activities organized were exceptional and inspiring. The club organizes different activities throughout the year including lectures, social extension activities, department fest and others.
Enlightened Echelon: It is the social initiative of the Department of English, keeping in view the significance of social sensitization and developing a sense of empathy in youth. Every year the department conducts social drives to promote a sense of responsibility in its students. The Enlightened Echelon in collaboration with its social initiative partner – ‘All About Happiness’ has been organizing donation drives Whisper no More, Syaahi, and Share the Warmth. The team Echelon, as the harbinger of the department fest, organizes Pre-Inka under which department students visit places like rehab centers, school for the blind, school for children with special needs, orphanages etc. to interact with the students there and create an understanding of an inclusive society. In addition to these through Feed-o-meter, the students are encouraged to feed the stray animals and birds.
Anchoring Club and Debating Club are part of Literati Cell.
Anchoring Club: The club aims to encourage students towards managing the stage and anchoring in formal, semi-formal and in formal setting and to conduct interviews and talk shows without any fear. From holding the stage on solemn moments in Orientation or entertaining the bustling crowd in the annual cultural fest Zest, this club ensures smooth conduct of the performances throughout the session.
Xavier’s Debating Club: It helps students develop their oratorical skills, critical thinking, and communication skills. The club helps students become informed citizens who are capable of drawing balanced and logical inferences and not be swayed by emotion. The club helps students prepare for inter-college debate competitions.
