After the sudden surge in the demand for technology following the COVID-19 pandemic,
where access to information and content became increasingly reliant on the internet, the
Government School of Narottampura (UBA Adopted the village of the Department of
Economics) approached the Department of Economics in the month of October. They
requested a donation of a printer and a computer system to bridge the gap between education
and technology.
To meet this need, the Department of Economics decided to donate the requested items to the
school during their annual donation drive, which they organize every year on November 22,
2023, commemorating the death anniversary of Dr. Sapna Newar, the former Head of the
Department of Economics.
For the funds, the department approached the alumni, and they displayed generosity. The
alumni, students, and faculty members of the department collectively donated a total of
54,188 rupees. The alumni contributed approximately 41,181 rupees, with the remaining
amount coming from students and faculty members. This collaborative effort showcased a
commendable commitment to supporting education and technology in Narottampura.
Following the successful collection of funds, the department proceeded to install the printer
and computer system in the Government School of Narottampura. On November 22, 2023, a
group of students and faculty members from the department visited the school to initiate the
donation drive.
The drive commenced with the installation of the printer and computer system.
Approximately 40 students were present during this event. As a gesture of tribute to Dr.
Sapna Newar, the department also donated stationary and refreshments to the students.
The school and its students expressed their happiness and appreciation for the positive
changes brought about by the new additions. The donation drive concluded with a thank-you
note delivered by the principal of Narottampura Government School.
