Date: 28 February, 2024
The Department of Science at St. Xavier’s College Jaipur, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), organized a commemoration event for National Science Day on February 28, 2024. This event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof (Fr) S. Xavier SJ, the Principal of the college, along with faculty members and students from the department.
One of the key highlights of the event was the sharing of views by the department regarding the significance of National Science Day. This provided an opportunity for students from Mahatma Gandhi Government School and Maa Sharda Public Sr. Sec. School, who are beneficiaries of the UBA initiative, to gain insights into the importance of science and its role in society. Furthermore, as part of the event, efforts were undertaken to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of global objectives aimed at addressing various socio-economic and environmental challenges to achieve a sustainable future for all. To promote awareness of these goals, the students and organizers engaged in activities such as painting the 17 SDGs on the walls of the schools and displaying environmental awareness posters.
By incorporating activities related to SDGs alongside the celebration of National Science Day, the event not only highlighted the importance of scientific advancements but also underscored the role of science in addressing pressing global issues such as environmental sustainability and socio-economic development. It provides a platform for students to learn about these critical topics and encourages them to contribute towards creating a more sustainable and equitable world.
