Date: 26 September – 2 October 2023
The Swacchta Action Plan Committee (SAP) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a week-long cleanliness drive from 26th September to 2nd October 2023, under the ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ initiative. This effort aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene in Khatwara Village, adopted by St. Xavier’s College Jaipur as part of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The drive sought to instill cleanliness and hygiene consciousness among Khatwara Village residents and improve their living environment. Additionally, it extended its impact to the college campus to reinforce cleanliness as a daily habit.
A total of 23 student volunteers from St. Xavier’s College Jaipur participated, working tirelessly to clean various locations within the village, particularly areas needing immediate attention. They also conducted awareness campaigns to educate villagers on cleanliness and hygiene practices. The volunteers cleaned common areas, classrooms, and recreational spaces within the college campus. The initiative received positive responses from Khatwara Village residents, who actively participated alongside the volunteers. The activity was organized under the guidance of College Principal Rev Fr Dr S Xavier SJ, SAP coordinator Ms. Nupur Chauhan, and Program Officer Dr. Pradeep Soni.
The ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ drive significantly improved cleanliness and hygiene standards in both Khatwara Village and St. Xavier’s College Jaipur campus, fostering a spirit of community and shared responsibility.
