World Environment Day – SAP

An event to mark World Environment Day was organised by the National Green Corps (NGC) and Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) in St. Xavier’s College Jaipur. World Environment Day is an initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The focus this year is on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, with the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration”. 

The event at St. Xavier’s College Jaipur to mark World Environment Day consisted of a Plantation Drive in the college campus, followed by a brief Awareness Session and E-Waste Collection Drive on 5 June 2024. This event was carried out in collaboration with Mr Gaurav Agarwal, Founder of GPS International and Zero Kabbad, who addressed the gathering, comprising of members of the management, faculty, office staff and support staff of St. Xaviers’ Jaipur school and college. He was accompanied by Mr Ayush Sharma, who also made anaddress on the importance of segregation of wet and dry waste in the recycling process. 

The gathering was addressed by Fr Arokya, who motivated the audience to contribute towards environmental conservation, in Hindi. This was followed by a pledge to protect the environment, a group photograph and refreshments. Arrangements were made to collect the e-waste collected through the donation drive. This initiative aimed to promote sustainable practices and proper disposal of electronic waste within our community for a green future.
