St. Xavier’s College Jaipur is gearing up to launch a pioneering initiative – Xavier’s Electoral Literacy Club – to promote civic awareness and active participation in democracy among the student community. As rightly pointed out by John F. Kennedy, “the ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.” Voting is not merely a constitutional right but a powerful tool that empowers every citizen to establish a true democracy. In line with this vision, the Election Commission of India (ECI) launched the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SEEVAP) program to develop a culture of enthusiastic electoral engagement and ethical ballot decision-making among citizens. The Electoral Literacy Club is a crucial part of this initiative, established in schools and colleges to raise awareness and ensure the participation of young people and future voters who are the pillars of Indian democracy. Xavier’s Electoral Literacy Club at St. Xavier’s College Jaipur is created to increase the electoral participation of students and motivate them to conduct field activities to encourage people to exercise their voting rights. The Club is committed to promoting democratic values and principles among the youth and encouraging them to become responsible citizens of the country. Xavier’s Electoral Literacy Club is an ambitious initiative that instills a sense of civic responsibility and active participation in democracy among the student community.
