The 7th Dr. Sapna Newar Memorial Lecture was organized by the Department of Economics, St. Xavier’s College Jaipur on 12 December 2025 in hybrid mode, with participants attending offline in Room No. 37 and the speaker joining online via Google Meet. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Choudhary and Mr. Baldev Singh and was attended by students of the Department of Economics. The lecture was delivered by Prof. S. Chandrasekhar, IGIDR, Mumbai, on the topic “The Rise of Data Journalism.”

The session aimed to introduce students to the concept and significance of data journalism and its interdisciplinary connection with economics and data analysis. Prof. Chandrasekhar discussed practical examples and emphasized the importance of data-driven reporting and continuous upskilling in the digital era. The lecture concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A session, making the program intellectually enriching and inspiring for students.
