Energy Management

Objective

To establish a systematic and sustainable approach for monitoring and promoting solar energy usage, reducing dependency on conventional sources, encouraging energy conservation and raising awareness among staff, students and locals.

Responsibilities

  • Energy Unit Coordinator & Member: Oversight and reporting
  • Lab Technician (Computer Lab): Routine monitoring of labs, classes and offices
  • Office Staff: Data Collection and Verification
  • Maintenance Staff (Electrician): Appliances repair and replacement
  • External Support: Solar, duct cooling system, etc.

Solar Energy Monitoring and Reporting

Monthly Energy Monitoring: Data recorded includes Import Units (consumed from grid), Export Units (sent back to grid), Total Solar Generation, and Total Consumption. Data collected from the solar app or meter readings by office staff with verification by designated faculty.

Environmental Impact Calculation:

  • Coal Saved = Total Solar Generation x 0.91
  • CO2 Saved = Total Solar Generation x 0.85

Data included in monthly reports and displayed on notice boards.

Solar Panel Maintenance

Weekly solar wash records maintained with date of cleaning, name of personnel and sign. Cleaning by external agency/College Maintenance Staff; verified by office staff. Logs maintained in a designated register.

Electrical Inventory & Energy Efficiency

Complete inventory maintained of all electrical appliances. A floor-wise schedule for gradual LED replacement is tracked monthly.

  • Natural light usage encouraged – curtains opened during day hours

Data Management & Reporting

Central Data Sheet (Google Sheet and Log book) accessible to office staff and faculty-in-charge. Quarterly reports submitted to Principal.
