Objective

The Biodiversity & Mycofarm Management Unit spearheads planning, plantation, maintenance, and awareness initiatives, advancing sustainable agriculture and landscaping while enriching campus biodiversity through well-planned green practices and active community participation. The Mycofarm mushroom hut functions as a dynamic learning space, integrating scientific knowledge with practical cultivation, and promoting awareness of nutrition, sustainability, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Member: Assist in plant care, eco-campaigns while promoting green practices
  • Office & Maintenance Staff: Data Collection

Flora Inventory Management

  • Maintain a complete and regularly updated inventory of all plants on campus including those in the AYUSH Udyan, butterfly garden and medicinal plant sections
  • Record all new additions, removals, or replacements in the inventory system
  • Ensure proper labeling and tagging of all significant plant species

Plant Health Monitoring & Organic Care

  • Conduct periodic inspections to assess plant health
  • Identify early signs of disease, pest attack, or nutrient deficiency
  • Use only organic treatments such as neem oil, vermiwash, compost tea, or botanical extracts
  • Maintain logs of Compost/Vermicompost/Bioinsecticides/Biopesticides used/applied in field for organic treatment with date and treatment details

Promotion of Native and Medicinal Plants

Educate students and staff about the ecological and therapeutic importance of native and medicinal plants on campus.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain comprehensive logs of:

  • Plant health inspections
  • Organic input usage
  • Harvest details
  • Plantation drives and awareness activities
  • Biodiversity in SXCJ Campus
  • Campus Flora documentation
