Five Day Workshop: Capacity Building Program series on Econometrics

The Workshop on “Causal Identification: Rethinking Econometric Methods (Cross-Sectional and Panel Data Methods)” was organized by the Department of Economics in collaboration with the Research & Development Cell (RDC), St. Xavier’s College Jaipur, from 27–31 December 2025 in hybrid mode. The offline sessions were held at the Hathroi Fort Campus from 27–29 December, while the online sessions were conducted via Zoom on 30–31 December. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Choudhary and Dr. Yashwardhan Singh and was attended by 26 participants, including postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members. The resource person for the programme was Prof. Abhiroop Mukhopadhyay from the Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of causal identification and empirical research strategies in econometrics. It covered topics such as OLS, endogeneity, cross-sectional and panel data methods, Difference-in-Differences, Instrumental Variables, Regression Discontinuity Design, and discrete choice models. Hands-on training using STATA enabled participants to apply theoretical concepts to real datasets, making the programme highly practical and academically enriching.
